The Catholic Miscellany

Our diocesan magazine is the successor to the United States Catholic Miscellany, the first national Catholic weekly newspaper in the U.S., founded in 1822 by Most Rev. John England, first bishop of the Diocese of Charleston.

The Catholic Miscellany is the official magazine for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, serving the state of South Carolina. Its mission is to present the Gospel values and good works of the local and universal Church.

The vision of The Catholic Miscellany is to strive to be a respected, professional Catholic publication, well-read and valued by an expanding readership. Every registered Catholic household in the state of South Carolina is eligible to receive the publication free from the parish in which the family is registered.
