What is the Diaconate?
The beloved Monsignor Joseph R. Roth, D.D. said it well in his book “The Deacon in Church Ministry.” In a few words, the Diaconate is a Ministry of Service.
“The Diaconal service needs to be done in the name of Jesus. Deacons need to see their fellow men and women as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are one people in the Lord. We are family. We are united by the common bonds of the Eucharist. The blood of Christ flows through all our veins and makes us one in the Lord.”
