Whereas the Vietnamese Catholic Community of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties, South Carolina, has increased significantly; and Whereas to meet the spiritual needs of this vibrant and growing community, it is now deemed necessary to form a new quasi-parish within the Diocese of Charleston with the intent that it shall one day evolve into a personal parish for Vietnamese Catholics; and Having sought and heard the counsel of the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Charleston on December 4, 2014, and in accordance with the norms of canons 515 §1-3, 516 §1, and 518, and by testimony of this document;
I HEREBY ERECT the Quasi-Parish of Our Lady of La Vang in Taylors, South Carolina, to serve the Vietnamese Catholic Faithful of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties in South Carolina and direct that this decree be published on the website for the Diocese of Charleston, sccatholic.org, which will be presumed the official notification of this action.
The erection of the Quasi-Parish of Our Lady of La Vang in Taylors is to become effective February 10, 2015, nothing the contrary withstanding.
