JACQUES
By the Grace of God and the Authority of the Apostolic See
BISHOP OF CHARLESTON
Whereas the former Holy Trinity School at 1761 Living Stones Lane in Longs, South Carolina is no longer in operation at that address, and
Whereas the Diocese of Charleston, which owns the buildings remaining at that location, intends to sell the property, and
Whereas no religious purpose can be found for the future use of this property, and
Whereas the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Charleston was consulted on 7 May 2024 and unanimously endorsed the reduction of that chapel to profane but not sordid use, so now
I decree in accordance with canon 1222 that the chapel located at 1761 Living Stones Lane in Longs, South Carolina is reduced to profane but not sordid use and is no longer to be used for divine worship.
I further direct the Vicar General of the Diocese of Charleston to arrange the removal and appropriate storage or use of all the sacred furnishings of the former chapel.
Given at the Chancery of the Diocese of Charleston on 5 June 2024, the Memorial of Saint Boniface, Bishop and Martyr.
