Dialogue on Race for Middle and High School Students: Building Cultural Competency

This will be an interactive experience on race and acceptance. Participants will learn about and share experiences in which behavior and communications involving peers of a different cultural background can sometimes be seen as insensitive. Examples on the influence of music and the arts on diversity and inclusion will be shared. The following pastoral letters: The Racial Divide in American by Bishop Edward Braxton and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s Pastoral on Racism, “Open Wide our Hearts”, will be discussed. Tips on how the use of Empathy and Reconciliation can help to bridge the gap associated with the racial divide in America.
For clergy, youth groups and individuals. Youth leaders are responsible for registering youth group and or CCD classes. Individual youth registrants will be sent a parents permission form to be completed.
