Position Summary: A custodian in a Catholic school is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the educational facilities, ensuring that students and staff have a clean and orderly environment for learning and working. The custodian performs a variety of tasks, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies. They also assist in the maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting workplace safety and environmental practices.
Key responsibilities include:
· Cleaning and maintaining classrooms, bathrooms, cafeterias, offices, and other public areas
· Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and adjusting furniture
· Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
· Reporting needs and concerns to appropriate staff and addressing them accordingly.
Education Requirements/Position Qualifications:
· High school diploma/GED
· Previous experience as custodian
· Ability to work in fast-paced environment
· Ability to keep track of inventory
· Ability to work in the afternoon/evenings
· Attention to detail
· Knowledge of cleaning chemical usage and safety handling
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
· This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds (stocking cleaning supplies) and use of cleaning chemicals
· Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and use of cleaning tools.
