Have you ever wondered why the Mass is so important to Catholics? Do you want to deepen your understanding of the Mass so you can participate in it more fully? St. Clare of Assisi Church is hosting a reception and keynote presentation about the Mass with Denis McNamara, Ph.D., associate professor and director of the Center for Beauty and Culture at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

After the 5:00 p.m. vigil Mass, enjoy a reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres followed by McNamara’s keynote presentation, “Heaven on Earth: The Bible and Church Architecture.” The event is free and will be held in the Bishop England High School Performing Arts Center.

In addition to the reception and presentation, St. Clare will hold afternoon workshops plus a panel discussion with McNamara and several local directors of music and liturgy. You are welcome to join any of the workshops; tickets/registration are only required for the reception and keynote presentation.

Denis McNamara, Ph.D., is an associate professor and executive director of the Center for Beauty and Culture at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. He holds a doctorate in architectural history and has authored several books on Catholic church architecture. McNamara is a frequent presenter in academic and professional settings and is a co-host of the popular The Liturgy Guys podcast.
