The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for all Chancery activity, assisting offices in the Diocese of Charleston to work cooperatively and accomplish strategic priorities as a diocese. The COO oversees day-to-day administration and staff in cooperation with the vicars general.
On April 3, 2023, Michael F. Acquilano, J.D., secretary of Communications & Public Affairs and director of the South Carolina Catholic Conference, was appointed to the newly created COO position in addition to his other duties. He reports directly to the bishop.
