Director of Music Ministry

Position Summary: The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for the planning and coordination of a comprehensive music program to facilitate the full and active participation of the congregation in the liturgical life of the church.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Music

-Strong knowledge of the Catholic liturgy and knowledge of the Catholic traditions and willingness to honor them

-Experience in directing choirs and cantors in a Catholic Church

-Experience and proficiency in playing the organ, piano, keyboard and clavinova at a professional level

-Proficiency in conducting and singing

-Possesses excellent communication/people skills

-Minimum of 3 years related experience in music ministry

Responsibilities:

• Plan all musical liturgies.
• Select and train all choir members and cantors.
• Conduct weekly structured choir and cantor rehearsals.
• Research and select music for all liturgies and services, create worship aids and prepare musical accompaniment.
• Plan and play at funerals and weddings (includes finding cantors for these services).
• Direct and perform music at 4 weekend Masses, all Holy days, Parish retreats, Penance services, and any other parish sponsored events that require music.
