Books used: Bi-lingual Missals, the “New Catholic Answer Bible” and the Little Black Book- “Transfiguration’. The classes include the Sunday Gospel readings with discussion, a communion service followed by reciting one decade of the rosary. Stations of the Cross are said during Lent. Rosary beads with instructions are given to all participants. Along with religious programming, the Volunteers have started a craft program where the women make quilts, stuffed animals and flowers for nursing home patients and for children in crisis.
Ministry’s Budget: Funding is provided by the Parish Women’s Club as needed. In addition, Father gives each women $120-$150 for a pair of shoes and an outfit to wear when they are released to go home and to seek employment.
Requested Items: Our prison volunteers would like the diocese to offer diocesan retreats for all the prison volunteers throughout the state.
2 Kairos Weekends Are Held Per Year #20 SPRING 2012. 684 residents have made the Kairos Weekend The Volunteer Coordinator is Rose Cannon 864-439-2589. Monthly “REUNIONS” are held. There are 12-15 Kairos volunteers who assist her at the monthly “REUNIONS.”
