Parish Office Manager

St. Michael Catholic Church located in Murrells Inlet, SC is seeking an office professional for a full-time position.

The Position:

The Office Manager handles administrative duties in the parish office, including assistant to the pastor.  This position requires supervision of office staff, including schedules, timecards, expenditures, and performance reviews.  The Office Manager is also available to members of the parish and community for assistance with church matters and event management.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining master schedules for all facilities and events of the parish, including community events held at the church.  Coordinating major parish events such as annual missions, special receptions, diocesan meetings, and deanery events held at our parish.
  • Maintaining parish website, live streaming and Flocknote communications platforms.
  • Managing contracts and accompanying documentation with the diocese, including unaffiliated organization paperwork, liability insurance, and other paperwork required regarding projects and events.
  • Assuring proper completion of marriage preparation and prenuptial paperwork. Communicating with the wedding coordinator on status of weddings and collection of proper fees.
  • Updating, maintaining and purchasing of computer programs and systems, in collaboration with IT representative, including administration of Microsoft Office and Parish Data Systems accounts.
  • Completing and processing parish reports for diocese as required.
  • Supervising bulletin and publication preparation, including parish advertising.

Position Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Computer literate and organized.  Proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Working knowledge of internet and website design/maintenance.  Able to work with little or no supervision and ability to manage staff.  At least five years’ experience in office administrative operations. Able to interact well with people.
  • Strong event scheduling and calendar management skills.
  • Experience with human resources and payroll programs.
  • Organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to multi-task and work well with people.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure at times, while maintaining a professional and pastoral attitude.
  • Attention to detail, and confidentiality in all matters, a must.
  • A practicing member of the Catholic Church in good standing.
  • Communication skills in Spanish a plus.
