Multi-Age Elementary Teacher (Grades 4-6)

St. Martin de Porres School is a K-6 school located in Columbia, SC.  We are in the process of adopting a Montessori approach to student learning emphasizing a child-centered educational method that focuses on self-directed learning, hands-on activities, and a carefully prepared environment, where children choose activities based on their interests and learn at their own pace.

Position Summary: St. Martin de Porres Catholic School seeks a joyful, intellectually motivated Upper Elementary School teacher to lead students in the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and virtue. The successful  candidate will develop a classroom culture marked by kindness, orderliness, diligence, and wonder at all God has made.  A bachelor’s degree is preferred, and a teaching certification is optional.  Applicants must be practicing Christians who will agree to adhere to all magisterial teachings of the Church.  Their lives should bear active and unmistakable witness to a deep love for our Lord Jesus Christ.  A practicing Catholic in good standing is a plus.

Essential Job Functions:
Faith Integration: Candidate is expected to integrate Catholic values and doctrine into their teaching, helping students form a spiritual foundation.

Academic Instruction: Candidate will plan and deliver grade-appropriate, engaging and differentiated lessons.

Classroom Management: Manage children to ensure a safe and encouraging atmosphere for learning.

Collaboration: Candidate will be able to work collaboratively with other staff members, including administrators.

Student Support: Candidate will provide support to students in their academic development and keep open communication with parents/guardians to reach goals for students.

Position Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Teaching certification is optional.

Candidate must be a Christian or practicing Catholic in good standing and able to lead through example.
