Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing personalized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, collaborating with colleagues and parents to create inclusive learning environments, and implementing effective strategies to promote student success.
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement academic plans for students with special needs, in collaboration with parents, school administrators, and support staff.
- Provide direct instruction to students in various subject areas, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student progress regularly and modify instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic growth and achievement.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their learning journey.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists to coordinate services and accommodations for students with special needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and solicit feedback on educational goals and strategies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to special education best practices, instructional technology, and student assessment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education (or ability to obtain certification/license).
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and ADHD strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments and supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.
