DESCRIPTION:What is Alpha? \n\nAlpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith\, typically run over 11 weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is operated around the globe\, and everyone is welcome.\n\nWhat to expect? \n\nA typical Alpha runs in cafés\, churches\, universities\, homes — you name it. No two Alphas look the same\, but they generally have three key things in common: food\, a talk and good conversation. We meet in the Nativity Church Parish Life Center for dinner and break up into small group meeting rooms for discussion.\n\nFirst up — Food  \n\nWhether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table\, or a quick catch-up over coffee and cake\, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. We start with food\, because it’s a great way to encourage community and get to know each other.\n\nFollowed by — Talk \n\nThe talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Generally thirty minutes long\, they can be given as a live talk or played as a video. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity\, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith?\n\nFinally — Discussion \n\nProbably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic\, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything. And there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest\, friendly and open environment.

DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled to September 19-20\, 2023 \nWhat Is Boot Camp? \nThe two-day training is for new youth leaders and those almost new who face this new position without a lot of training or experience. The main goal of this training is to help youth leaders build a strong foundation for their ministry\, and to help avoid the many pitfalls that those in youth ministry face. When we first developed the boot camp it was only a one-day training. We soon realized that we had so much information we had to cover that we decided to make it a two-day training. In order to help keep the cost down\, we will have the training at the chancery\, we will pick up your one night of lodging and we will provide most of your meals for the training. The cost for the two-day training is $75 per person. The resources that will be given away are more than what you will be paying for this training.
