DESCRIPTION:Greenville’s closing celebration for the fall 40 Days for Life campaign will be held Nov. 3 from 7:00-8:15 pm in the parking lot of Piedmont Women’s Center\, 1143 Grove Road. Parking is a short distance down the road at Grove Road Baptist Church. \nOur speaker will be Matt Britton\, Matt holds a Masters Degree in Forensic Science from George Washington University and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Matt has had an expansive legal career\, including four terms as an elected prosecutor; a county attorney; counsel to many non-profits and U.S. companies at home and abroad; as a major law firm litigator\, and as general counsel. Matt has written and spoken many times on a wide range of legal and pro-life issues in locations on four continents. He will address specifically the issues we are facing in Greenville. Come with questions! Most importantly\, Matt is married to Libby Britton\, and they have eight beautiful children and six grandchildren. \nPlease join us for our celebration of life! Their efforts illustrate why we’re seeing historic changes — more mothers choosing life\, more abortion workers experiencing conversions and leaving the abortion industry\, and more abortion centers closing their doors for good.” \nMaureen Weigold\, spokesperson for the Columbia campaign\, said\, “We are tremendously pleased that Matt will be here to support our 40 Days for Life effort. SUMMARY:Young Moms' Advent Retreat
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to offer young moms a chance to get away to renew and refresh. It’s a retreat for moms to relax\, read\, walk\, and connect with other moms. There will be mini-reflections\, discussions\, adoration\, but most of all\, time to pray and REST. \nThe cost of the retreat will be $125 for a shared room (more for a single room) and will include one night’s lodging (bedding and towels provided) 3 meals\, and some peace and quiet. It will be a full 24 hours away of no housework\, no cooking\, and no other concerns except seeking what God is asking of you at this time away. \nThe retreat will have a simple schedule with lots of free time. Nursing babies are welcome! \n​Friday\, Dec. 8 7:00pm until Saturday\, Dec. 9 7:00pm with an optional stay on Saturday evening. SUMMARY:Service of Advent Lessons and Carols
DESCRIPTION:The 10th Annual Service of Advent Lessons and Carols at St. Philip Neri Church\, 292 Munn Road in Fort Mill\, will feature the Adult Choir\, Handbell Ensemble\, Rejoice Youth Sing and Ring Choir\, brass and organ as we listen to the events and Scripture leading up to the birth of the Messiah. \nThe event is free and open to everyone; light refreshments will be served. Read some of the history below! \nThe gift of the Liturgy of Lessons and Carols has been passed down for over 100 years\, beginning in 1880 as a way for future Archbishop of Canterbury Edward White Benson to herd parishioners away from the pubs on Christmas Eve. However\, on a theological level\, this compilation of music and readings sought to offer hope through the prophetic story of Christ’s coming. \nAlthough it originated as an English tradition\, Lessons and Carols has become a widespread celebration for Catholics and Protestants alike. Because this liturgy takes place outside of the eucharistic celebration of the Mass\, it allows for the full and active participation of every congregation. Generally\, Lessons and Carols is separated into nine parts\, beginning with Old Testament Scriptures that point to the hope of a coming Messiah. The liturgy concludes with Gospel passages that demonstrates the Old Testament’s prophetic fulfillment. \nThere is hardly a lack of Christmas music this time of year\, but the beauty of Lessons and Carols lies in the fact this music dramatically demonstrates the beauty of the wisdom within these Scripture passages. While we may not need to be herded away from the pubs as we did in 1880\, we are still in need of a shepherd’s crook to pull us away from the secular consumerism\, and back into the mystery of Christ’s Incarnation. \nSt. Phillip Neri’s Lessons and Carols will last about an hour and will conclude with light refreshments. The liturgy will be celebrated with the aid of the Adult Choir\, Rejoice Youth Sing and Ring Choir\, the Handbell Ensemble\, and a Brass Quintet. This will be the 10th year the parish has offered this liturgical celebration as we prepare ourselves for Christ’s coming.

Join us at 7:00 p.m. as we discuss faith\, share some fellowship\, and order a drink — or food if you like! \nThis fall we’ll have a 4-part series Communion  about the 4 parts of consecration and the Eucharistic feast — Taken\, Blessed\, Broken\, and Given. It’s heavily inspired by Eucharistic revival and devotion\, specifically from the Catechism\, and the purpose is to reorient our everyday worship and conform to His heart in this way. \n“Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist\, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking.” (CCC\, 1327) \nInvite a coworker\, bring a friend\, or just show up and meet some new people.
