SUMMARY:Mass for Migrant Workers
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, thousands of people from Latin American countries travel to South Carolina (under H2-A Temporary Agricultural Workers legal visas) for farm work in Saluda County. They harvest in peach orchards and tobacco fields\, work at chicken plants and do general farm work. \nTo minister to these predominantly-Catholic migrants\, we will hold the first diocesan event Mass for Migrant Workers at St. William Church in Ward. Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune\, CS\, will be the celebrant and homilist. DESCRIPTION:The Forty Hours’ Devotion (Quarant’Ore) originated in Milan in 1534. The Blessed Sacrament was displayed on the altar continually for 40 hours during a time of calamity and danger. Please join Fr. Nicholas Edmonds Smith during this Lenten mission. There will be Eucharistic Adoration\, talks with Fr.
