For the past forty-five years, the spiritual welfare of the faculty, staff, and students of the academic institution, The Citadel, in Charleston, South Carolina, has been served by Christ the Divine Teacher Parish. During this time, the Catholic Faithful have heard the Word of God and received the Sacraments of the Church within this parish. It is now deemed necessary to make new provisions for the spiritual care of the parishioners of Christ the Divine Teacher Parish. After due consultation with the pastor, Rev. Dennis B. Willey; and having sought and heard the counsel of the Presbyteral Council on April 16, 2013, in accordance with the norms of canon 515, §2 and by testimony of this document, I hereby suppress Christ the Divine Teacher Parish.

Forthwith, the parishioners of Christ the Divine Teacher are hereby incorporated into Sacred Heart Parish, Charleston, South Carolina. The patrimony, ecclesiastical goods (assets), and debits of Christ the Divine Teacher Parish at the effective enactment of this decree become patrimony, ecclesiastical goods, and debits of Sacred Heart Parish. The territory belonging to Christ the Divine Teacher Parish is to be reunited to Sacred Heart Parish.

The revised territorial boundaries of Sacred Heart Parish are as follows:

    Beginning at Magnolia Cemetery at its intersection with the east end of Lemon Street; then north along the border of Magnolia Cemetery; then easterly continuing along the northern border of Magnolia Cemetery until its end; then due east on an imaginary line to the Cooper River; proceeding south along the Cooper River while incorporating Drum Island in its entirety into said boundaries prior to returning north up the Cooper River on the west side of Drum Island; then bearing west along an imaginary straight line across the peninsula that joins the center of the most northern section of Johnson Street on its east end; continuing west along the center of Johnson Street until it ends at its intersection with Meeting Street; then south along the center of Meeting; then bearing west on an imaginary straight line across U.S. Route 17 to join the center of Fishburne Street on its east end; continuing west along the center of Fishburne Street till its end; then continuing westerly on an imaginary straight line to the Ashley River; proceeding north along the Ashley River until the west end of Heriot Street is due east; then due east on an imaginary line across the peninsula to the northwest end corner of Heriot Street; continuing along the north side of Heriot street in an easterly direction across Meeting Street and King Street Extension to the western end of Lemon Street; then continuing along the north side of Lemon Street till its intersection with Magnolia Cemetery and ending there.

This Decree is to become effective June 1, 2013, nothing the contrary withstanding.
